Chuck currently serves as the Consulting Advisor offering high-level business expertise to the Academy’s team of consultants. Chuck is a passionate entrepreneur and business team member who built multi-billion dollar companies such as online insurance pioneer www.esurance.com which recently was acquired by White Mountains Insurance Group (WTM:NYSE) and then Allstate (ALL:NYSE) At Esurance Chuck assisted in building them from a raw start-up into a national market leader competing against powerful competitors like State Farm, Allstate, Progressive and GEICO.
As an Esurance Co-Founder Chuck held multiple senior executive positions with concentration on leading the development and execution of Esurance's business strategy and operations. He raised $40M in Series A and Series B financings from leading venture capital investors including Trinity Ventures, Palo Alto Ventures, Redpoint Ventures and Global Retail Partners.
Upon his successful exit from Esurance Chuck served as CEO of Ustream, Inc. (www.ustream.com) in San Francisco, CA. With 30% monthly growth, Ustream.TV quickly established itself as a multi-national leader in the live interactive video broadcast space -- truly building a new market and industry. As CEO, Chuck led an international team in California and Hungary raising significant rounds of capital from leading Angel, Venture Debt and Venture Capital investors - including The Band of Angels, Western Technology Investment (WTI) and DCM.
Chuck later served as President at uSell.com San Francisco, CA. He led all groups within uSell, including marketing, customer care, operations, product, technology and finance – Chuck’s focus was on extensive team leadership development and was responsible for successfully executing the turn-around and transformation of a faltering international gold buying company -- into the leading eCommerce platform enabling consumers to safely and conveniently sell their used electronics to trusted companies. He reduced customer acquisition costs by 80%, cut operating costs by 70%, and grew revenues to a $12 million annual rate just 3 months after the uSell re-launch.
Chuck currently serves as a board member, adviser, and consultant on strategy and operational execution for multiple ecommerce, internet services, digital media, and electronic financial services companies and serves as the Academy’s consulting advisor within all these areas.
Chuck concentrates his efforts on working with the Academy’s consultants in helping them define their customer’s strategy -- and then turn that strategy into successful operational execution.
Chucks personal passions are family, community, fitness and continued personal growth. Chuck's education includes a BS in Engineering Mechanics from the US Air Force Academy, an MBA from the Wharton School, and a JD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law.
